minimum wage now and what a wage should be in a given market varies across the country a lot based on the economy in that local area. typically you find big companies have more ability to absorb the costs of minimum wage increase and it's the small business lobby that really agitates against it so it's an uphill push. many republicans will argue, all this will do is make jobs more expensive for employers to create and therefore we'll create fewer jobs and we have to resist this. obama thinks this will play well with his political base and i like jeff's point about, a lot of these ideas are not necessarily going to pass, that the president was talking about. so you ask the question, why would a president talk about a lot of things that aren't going to pass, and i think it's to create a patina across his whole presidency that's appealing to a lot of different voters by checking a lot of different boxes and that helps you with the one thing do you need to do and that's they is -- sequester fight coming up on march 1 and the tactical decisions he needs to make are fares he has the public behind him.

economy or business economy class but then you know the difficulties make a relationship stronger if there were no problems it wouldn't be life which it would be boring it was the first time i celebrated new year on the train at first i was very sad because i had to leave and i thought it would be my worst new year ever but once i got back things turned around like in a fairy tale. the rest of the group. this is simply great all the more so because i'm an art teacher alan artist i'm just well it's not exactly a dream come true that's an exaggeration but it came quite unexpectedly kind of a surprise. because we communicated with the artists we chose three rooms that focused on them just like with focus on people that we don't squander our energies but we choose them and today we give greeting cards to people on the street who would like. this it was the you know after the night after the very holiday we've had our crews from getting some rest we've been gathering strength before next spring and we've been sleeping as the joke goes i wish morning came as early as possible so i could go

voters tend to blame the president's party if the economy's not working. so there's a kind of irresponsibility built into that. plus they're coming from the gerrymandered districts that are very safe, republican districts for the most part so the bulk of the republican congress won't even face any serious competition in another year and feel safe to do whatever they will. what's strange though is this is -- both parties are talking about inflicting austerity cuts, on an economy that is very weak. the president gains an advantage because he wants to do what is sensible which is some combination of tax hikes on the rich and sensible spending cuts. whereas republicans are simply going after the entitlement programs whenever they can. but what the problem is, we need a program to get the economy moving and to get the 20 million people in need of full-time work, back to work. and if we do that, that will bring down the deficit. if instead we start making these cuts in an economy that's already losing ground in the last quarter we're likely -- we could well put
